MANILA, March 18 - “Why only now, we want more dialogue of this kind.”

This was the prevalent question most people from Mindanao and other parts of the country asked during the series of reflective dialogues jointly conducted by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) and civil society to get their views and opinions on contentious issues discussed by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to find a peaceful solution to the armed conflict in southern Philippines.

MANILA, March 18 – Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Annabelle T. Abaya said that the just-concluded “Dialogue Mindanaw” is only the beginning of pursuing a new platform for a lasting peace in Mindanao that includes good governance.

“This is only the start,” Abaya told diplomats during a conference organized by the World Affairs Forum (WAF) at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati on Wednesday.

Abaya briefed the diplomatic community g an update on the on-going peace talks between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

"Dialogue Mindanaw" culminates in Tawi-Tawi PDF Print E-mail

BONGAO, TAWI-TAWI, March 15 – The enervating summer heat coupled with power interruptions, did not dampen the spirit of 397peace advocates here to actively take part at the conclusion of the nationwide reflective dialogues that would help resolve peacefully the Mindanao conflict that has hounded the country the last four decades.

The outcome of the dialogues would help shape peace negotiators of the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) find a genuine and lasting solution to end the Mindanao problem.

“Mindanaw Dialogue” is a series of consultations launched by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) in collaboration with civil society to provide the people, particularly the stakeholders the opportunity to be heard on the views and opinions in the ongoing peace process.
